Mother’s Day Traditions

My mom and I have an annual Mother’s Day tradition, that started when I was very young.  As the only child of a single mother, I wanted to do something extra special for my mom when I was about 6 years old, so I decided I’d wake up extra early and make her breakfast in bed.  My childhood best friend used to cook scrambled eggs in the microwave to feed their dog so I figured that was something I could handle, there was still coffee in the pot from the previous morning so I didn’t need to worry about trying to figure out how to make any, and cereal was a breeze so of course I made that first so it could sit and get nice and soggy while I whipped up everything else.  It was my attempt at a grand gesture and my mom forced down her breakfast with a smile on her face, because even though my cooking skills were less than stellar, she appreciated my efforts.  After that year though we decided to go to the diner to have breakfast at the counter on Mother’s Day, and it’s been our official tradition ever since.

This year, I still plan to carry on with that tradition, but I wanted to do something a little extra special, I wanted to give my mom a timeless gift.  Something she can wear every day and hopefully be reminded of how very special she is, and these Freshwater Cultured Pearl and Diamond Hoop Earrings from REEDS Jewelers are just the things.  My mom is my best friend, my biggest cheerleader, and my inspiration and for those reasons and so much more she deserves the very best!

Thank you to REEDS Jewelers for sponsoring today’s post and inspiring me to try to make this Mother’s Day the best yet!
